I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Brian Thomas, host of WBSM’s Freedom Fools radio show. Brian’s perspective: “The other side of President Trump’s tariffs is that he wants us to buy Made in USA. But how do we do that?”

WBSM is the radio station out of New Bedford, MA and as Mr. Thomas discussed, the town was hit hard by factories closing and moving production to other countries.

“Listeners tell me our downtown used to be vibrant,” he said. “Now all the small businesses are gone.” (Yes, that’s what happens with offshoring.)

In this 30 minute conversation, we discuss how people can begin making the switch to buying Made in USA. I explained why it’s important to read labels and the various designations and their differences:
+ Designed in . . .
+ Assembled in USA with globally sourced products
+ Manufactured in [state]
+ Made in USA

After this interview, I had a huge insight: Many people simply don’t know about all the great things made right here because they’re not available at your local big box store, mall, or Amazon.

Instead, they’re available through direct to consumer websites. And, many people don’t know that much of what is made here is made by smaller manufacturers. Ultimately, it means people’s shopping behaviors have to change.

Mr. Thomas ended the conversation by saying, “We have to you back on the show.” I said, “Anytime! I love talking about this topic.” “I can tell,” he said. “You’re quite passionate.”
